Chroni — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Chroni ("Chroni", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Chroni mobile app. Chroni is a shared family calendar that lets you keep an agenda of events and share selected events with members of your household.

Chroni is provided by OliveGameStudio (Simon Jefferies), a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK GDPR, OliveGameStudio is the data controller for personal data processed through Chroni.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the app:

  • Account information — the email address you sign up with. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is stored only in a securely hashed form; we never see or store your plaintext password.

  • Event content — the events you create, including titles, dates and times, event type, notes, recurrence settings, and whether an event is personal or shared.

  • Household information — the household you create or join, its name, its invite code, and which households you are a member of.

  • A user identifier — a unique account ID used to associate your data with your account and to enforce access controls.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or analytics/usage tracking data. Chroni contains no third-party advertising and no third-party tracking.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Create and maintain your account and keep you signed in between sessions.

  • Store and display your events and reminders.

  • Let you create or join a household and share selected events with its members.

  • Send you a local reminder on the morning of an event (see "Notifications" below).

  • Keep the service secure and prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting attempts to join a household by code).

Legal bases (UK GDPR). We process your account and event data to perform our contract with you (to provide the app). We rely on your consent for device notifications, which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings. We rely on our legitimate interests for keeping the service secure.

Notifications

Chroni can schedule local reminders on your device. These are created and stored on your device by iOS; the reminder content is not sent to us or to any third party. You can enable or disable notifications at any time in your iPhone's Settings.

How your information is shared

  • With your household. Events you choose to mark as "shared" are visible to the members of the household you share them with. Events left personal are visible only to you. Your email and password are never shared with other household members.

  • With our service providers. We use Supabase to provide database hosting and authentication. Supabase processes data on our behalf as a data processor under our instructions. Data may be stored on servers located outside the UK; where that happens, appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) apply.

  • We never sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or valid legal process.

Data retention

We keep your account and event data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data, except where we are required to retain limited information to comply with legal obligations.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and database-level access controls (row-level security) that ensure you can only access your own data and the households you belong to. Authentication tokens are stored in the device's secure storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.

  • Correct inaccurate data.

  • Request deletion of your data.

  • Object to or restrict certain processing.

  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

  • Withdraw consent (for example, for notifications) at any time.

Deleting your account

You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@olivegame.studio. We aim to action deletion requests promptly.

Children's privacy

Chroni is intended for adults managing a household and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Adults may, of course, add events about their family — including children — as part of normal household use.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
